The Burnt Stump

This picture shows the actual remaining stump - along with the exposed log ready to cut into sections prior to milling.

The Burnt Stump Range of Furniture

This range has been created from my close contact with the forests of our Southwest, where the magnificent Jarrah and Marri grow on the banks of the Blackwood River..

The hallmark of this range is the natural edge slab timbers - most of which has been hand milled by myself on my own property at Jalbarragup, 25k from the township of Nannup.

Most of it from a single 350/400 year old tree that fell in fire some 40 odd years ago - and had lain on the river bank until it was exposed recently by another fire....

The Burnt Stump still remains to this day - as a reminder of the glory of this forest giant.

Several pieces shown here on this web site feature examples of this superlatively handsome timber.

Value Adding

As the harvest volume of this timber diminishes - it is important to maximise the use of this material by value adding each piece of it with careful thought and application.

This means that there is minimal wastage - every small piece and off cut is kept and used to create yet another distinctive piece of furniture for present and future generations to enjoy.
